Excerpt from chapter ten, enjoy!

Tears were streaming down Liv's face as she stared over Silas’ shoulder. His anger began to form in the pit of his stomach. He could feel it corroding his insides. He put his head down and his knuckles on the floor.
     "Run Liv."
"I don't want to leave you here alo -"
Silas lifted his head quickly, eyes black. "Run!"
Liv stepped back two feet before she could comprehend what she had just seen and then she ran. She took refuge underneath the concession table where she could watch everything.
"How dare you!" A voice shrieked at him. "How dare you think you can defy me. You're my son!"
"Son?" Liv whispered biting her nails.
"Yeah?" Silas answered, "Well, I didn't ask to be!"
With that comment Silas was back on his feet and shooting straight heat at his father knocking him against the gymnasium wall. He wasn't down long before he joined Silas on the floor, both of them standing head to head.
"What do you want?" Silas asked. The poison on his tongue was almost enough to kill.
"You," Lehhs told him. "I want you."
     "You can't have me."
They walked in circles around one another like dogs waiting to attack. Lehhs began to laugh throwing Silas off.
"I take what I want boy." Lehhs lunged at Silas, the palms of his white hands connecting with Silas’ shoulders. He dug long black nails through Silas’ suit, penetrating his flesh before throwing him up in the air and across the room like a ragdoll.
Silas hit the backboard of the basketball net with a loud thud before falling face first onto the hard waxed floor below. Mascara stained Liv's cheeks while tears fell from traumatized eyes. Her first instinct was to run to him but she was frozen by fear, her limbs felt cold and detached.
Lehhs stood over Silas laughing at his still lifeless body. He nudged him with his foot, no movement. He leaned in close to Silas’ face and shook his head, "You should have listened to me."
Before Lehhs could move another inch Silas’ eyes popped open wide with awareness then he grabbed Lehhs' cloak and pulled him to the ground sitting on top of him. He opened his hand and the knife Lehhs kept in his side holster found its home in Silas’ open palm. He held it to his father's throat, his eyes raging blackness like a black hole ready to suck in any matter around it.
"Do not forget. I am your son," He mocked.
A villainous smile formed on Lehhs' lips, "Yes," His voice was dark, "I see that now."
Silas growled pressing the knife deeper into Lehhs' skin. Hesitation ran over him that he could not understand.
Do it idiot. What's wrong with you?
But Silas was not his father and with Liv watching him he could not kill him. He dropped the knife, and the cold steel echoed as it hit the floor.
